Threat Level Number Three is a track by the band Black Dahlia Murder, following the story of a convicted child molester who is haunted both physically and spiritually by the horrors he has committed.
The band approached me with a strong concept of this loathsome character who was seeking redemption and finding none. Hell is an encompassing theme with their new album and I wanted to portray it in a visually striking and fresh way. I riffed off the concepts of Dante's Inferno in the varying levels of hell specified for each type of sinner asking "What would that special place in hell where people that hurt children be like?"
I also wanted to utilize the electric color palette seen in the great merch the band has put out over the years. I think it also plays to the childish theme of the concept as does the animation and style.
Had a lot of fun creating this for such a legendary band.
